Craniosacral & Manipulative Therapist

David Wilson B.A. D.O. MLCSP (Phys.) FRSPH. MABN.

David Wilson

David graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1979 and the European School of Osteopathy in 1990. He ran three clinical practices in Brighton, Hove and Tenterden and eventually became a partner in a practice at 104 Harley Street, London. He also lectured at the European School of Osteopathy as well as being a clinic tutor there. As a member of the Law Society’s Register of Expert Witnesses, he was called upon to compile medical reports and appear in court. He also acted as the Sussex Police Osteopath for a number of years.

David left the Register of Osteopaths in 2000 to focus on lecturing but is now delighted to be back in the saddle. With 35 years in practice, David has undertaken nearly 50,000 patient treatments and is one of the UK’s most highly experienced practitioners, having worked in both private medicine and the NHS. Until recently, David practised part-time while teaching CPD courses in clinical neurology for doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, sports therapists and massage therapists. David has recently returned to the UK after spending a year in a busy and prestigious clinic in the Republic of Ireland and now feels happy and fulfilled to be back in full-time clinical practise here.

David is conversant with most treatment techniques and modalities of conventional manipulative osteopathy and physiotherapy although craniosacral therapy is now his modality of choice; he says it is the most profoundly powerful therapeutic modality he has come across in thirty-five years of practice.

For many years, David specialized in severe-acute neck problems, diagnosing and treating neurogenic conditions such as cervical and lumbar radiculopathy as well as headache syndromes. He also has experience with CVAs, brain injuries and rehabilitation. His current area of special interest is alleviating the pain from osteoarthritis (wear and tear). David’s CPD classes are dedicated to promoting patient safety and upgrading the therapist’s clinical skills. Many of them focus on the neurological examination of the lower limbs, upper limbs and cranial nerves and the differential diagnosis of potentially dangerous problems. He is keen on detailed history-taking and teaches this when invited.

David is registered with the Cranio Sacral Society and the London and Counties Society of Physiologists. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health and a member of the Association of British Neurologists.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Every aspect of your consultation is held in the strictest confidence.
David will take a full medical history and give you any examination that may be indicated.
David will then discuss his findings with you and briefly outline any proposed treatment as well as answering any questions you may have. He will also give you an idea of how long any proposed course of treatment is likely to be.
Be aware that emotional or psychological problems (such as past trauma) can cause physical symptoms and vice versa.
If David thinks your problem unlikely to respond to treatment, he will tell you immediately following his examination and you will NOT be charged any fee. He may suggest referring you to another specialist.
If your problem is amenable to treatment, David will begin treatment during the initial consultation.

Treatment is generally carried out with the patient's clothes ON, so please wear something light or loose.
It should go without saying that David is fully and comprehensively insured.
Finally, feel free to drop in just for a “tune-up” or to de-stress; many people do this once or twice a month in the same way that they might visit a masseuse.
